Events

15 January - New Media and the Warfighter (Israel- Hezbullah war of 2006)

A closed door SecDev Group event at the United States Army War College for scholars and senior practitioners from the military and intelligence communities that will assess the influence of New Media (Internet, blogs, satellite TV and mobile communications) on warfighting, peace and stability operations. The workshop will use the“34 day war” between between Israel and Hezbullah as a case study to examine the role of "information effects" in modern war fighting against assymetric opponents. SecDev invited experts include: Andrew Exum, Mark Perry, Thomas Rid, Ronald Deibert and Rafal Rohozinski.

5 February - OECD Guidance on Armed Violence Reduction

An expert workshop organized by DFID to reveiw the draft Guidance on Armed Violence Reduction, prepared by The SecDev Group and the Small Arms Survey (Geneva).

The SecDev Group has been selected to manage the OpenNet Intiative's network of 15 Asian partners under a $1.1 million dollar project funded by the International Development Research Centre (Canada).
